We maintain ours in heated areas in the colder months. Whilst we have birds that were imported from Germany ... the German birds almost certainly arrived from the US so I do think considered one of the problems is The shortage of genetic range.  As soon as they access 1 year of age they appear do really well.  Ended up not able to deal with chi
